Let The Holidays Begin?
So, the shoots of spring are beginning to creep out of the cold winter earth, and finally thoughts of summer cross your mind. You realize that you’ve been head down for the long winter months and it’s high time that you and yours had a break. Maybe it’s a short city break, perhaps a week in a remote stunning landscape, but wherever you choose to recharge your batteries, the accommodation is a key part to a successful time out.
The traditional choices of hotel or bed and breakfast are now joined by a flourishing industry of holiday let accommodation, which offers some distinct advantages. Freedom and privacy are two important features of renting an apartment or cottage of your own for the duration of your stay. True, there will be no concierge or room service (although some holiday lets will deliver a delicious breakfast basket on request), but the care you receive from having a space dedicated to you with no interruptions from maids or front desk reception staff means that you can for a short time live with the heady idea that you are actually free! You come and go anytime you wish. If you get the munchies at 4am you can saunter into your own fully equipped kitchen and make a midnight snack, without the inconvenience of calling up room service, waiting for the intrusion of delivery and then having to pay extra on your bill for it.
Many <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=http://www.holidayletslondon.co.uk/>holiday lets</a> now provide the highest possible standards, including free wi-fi internet access, cable or satellite television and your own laundry facilities – all things that would cost extra in a hotel.
The phrase home from home does not do justice to holiday lets, as they are much more than that. You have every home comfort, but with the sole purpose of giving you space to relax and enjoy, without the daily lists that accompany each of us in our own home. A hotel room can be a pretty lonely, confined space at times, whereas your own apartment or cottage can provide the welcome warmth and space you need. There can also be the advantage of outdoor space, or a pool/Jacuzzi that you don’t have to share with 100 others.
And last but definitely not least – the cost. <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=http://www.holidayletslondon.co.uk/>Holiday lets</a> can be the very best choice if you want to have more spending money while you’re away, or if you are on a tight budget. When you are holidaying with friends or family, it can work out at a fraction of the cost, per head, of a hotel.
So go on, get online and enjoy the riches of beautiful affordable accommodation wherever your heart takes you.
Enjoy Vacationing In Expert Hands With Cheap Hotels
The vacationing industry is certainly booming with enjoyment, and people are going out on vacations many times than they did earlier. That has certainly put the pressure on holiday conducting services, be they flying operators, tour operators or accommodation facilities like hotels. It has become very difficult for them to manage the current big boom of vacationing world, and the result is total confusion. There are hundreds of instances all more the world each day when people arrive to their hotels and find out that the rooms have been allotted to someone else, or that they want to pay a little more to get the room they already booked in advance and such another snags. Eventually, this is putting a big dampener on the vacation happening.
Such snags are bound to happen if you journey with people who are not professionals in the field. Conducting a good vacation is something only people with experience can handle. It is completely a feat to juggle thousands of people each day to their proper hotel destinations, for instance, and only pros can do it with perfection. That is why you must place your trust in people who know what they are doing like hotel online booking sites, the expert hotel reservation website that has successfully provided accommodations for eight million people across four continents, with as less problems as likely.
What is the interest of booking through popular websites, you ask? Well, there are many. If you are talking about online hotel booking in special, you will understand what I mean as soon as you enter their home page. The entire reservation process is streamlined. Making the selection of your desired hotel and even making the payment is a very simple process, and is suddenly recorded on hotel’s lists. No sooner do you make a reservation than a confirmatory email is sent to you, and an email is dashed off to the hotel so that they know the rooms have been booked. This avoids a great deal of confusion later on. You also get a voucher that you have to show the hotel when you check in.
Also, since these sites are operating for so many years and giving good industry to the hotels each day, the hotels treat their patrons with greater care. This means you get priority in the hotel reservations and perhaps even discounts when you book with them. That could mean more privileged travel at lesser cost, something that amateur hotel reservation website will not be able to provide at all.
In addition, these professional websites have their newsletters, which are filled with exciting offers on hotel bookings from across the globe. These newsletters can be mailed to you upon request. That will really help you to get some cheap travel to destinations of your choice.
Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur Property Guide
Provence is a former Roman province and is now a region of south-eastern France, located on the Mediterranean Sea adjacent to France’s border with Italy. It is now part of the administrative region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur (PACA). The traditional region of Provence includes the departments of Var, Vaucluse, and Bouches-du-Rhone in addition to parts of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes.
Provence Landscape
The Riviera is bathed in blue – the blue of the sky and sea with its glamorous resorts Saint-Tropez, Cassis, Bormes Mimosas, Saint Raphael, Nice and Cannes. Inland features its perched villages, the Verdon Canyon, the Ventoux mount, the Alpilles and further along the coast the unique Camargue ( Arles, the Baux de Provence, the Saintes Maries de la Mer) and its wild horses and flamingos. The Luberon – made famous by Peter Mayle – with its fields of lavenders, and architectural splendour of Avignon.
Provence Attractions
When you tire of chilling out on the beaches, walking in the fields of Lavender, exploring the wilds of the Luberon and Camargue, here are some attractions to visit:
Palais des Papes (Pope’s Palace), Avignon
Avignon is a delight – full of surprises – from the river and its Pont d’Avignon to the fortified city with its massive Gothic palace, Palais des Papes, there are historic treasures to admire.
Musee Matisse, Nice, Cote d’Azur
Surrounded by an olive garden, this museum has a collection of paintings spanning Henri Matisse’s life.
Granet Museum (Musee Granet), Aix-en-Provence
This museum houses a collection of French paintings from the 16th century onwards. It is named after the famous local painter Francois Granet.
Atelier Cezanne, Aix-en-Provence
This is the studio of the famous painter Paul Cezanne. It has been preserved in its original state.
Provence Weather
In the spring, the weather can be very changeable with sunny days mixed with partial cloud and showers. However, when it rains it pours. Fortunately, the showers are usually brief. Beware the Mistral wind, blowing down the Rhone Valley, which can rage for days!
Summers can be very hot although evening temperatures will drop. A haze can persist in the early mornings but the sun quickly burns it away. There are days of glorious sunshine.
During Autumn (Fall), storms can spring up and be quite fierce in the mountains. Many days of sunshine with less haze and pleasant temperatures.
Along the coast Winters are mild, and the sun will be shining brightly still! Snow rarely falls at lower levels but the mountains above 1500m will be covered during the middle of winter.
Getting there
By Plane: The Provence region is well served by flights from the UK. Marseilles is served by Air France, BA and Easyjet. Air France, BMI Baby, EasyJet and BA to Nice. Ryan Air flies into Toulon.
By Car: There are Autoroutes into Provence from Calais: about 10-12 hours driving! We suggest avoiding the Paris Peripherique route, and not to travel in August especially at weekends!
TGV: The TGV (high speed rail service) service is available to the South coast via Paris from Calais (or Eurostar from the UK). Arrives in Aix-en-Provence

Holidays at Yorkshire would be an invigorating experience
The county of Yorkshire covers 1,365 square miles and has a population of 450,000. Yorkshire is known worldwide as the home of Cider, and indeed Cider production is ranked second only to dairy farming as the main industry. Natural features of the county include the rivers Avon, Exe and Parret, the marshy coastline of the Bristol Channel and the Mendip Hills which include Cheddar Gorge, the origin of English Cheddar cheese. As with many of England’s southern counties Somerset remains a picturesque reminder of the pre-industrial days.
The Exmoor National Park is a protected area of approximately 267 square miles within North Devon and West Somerset in the South West of England, UK. Exmoor is a mixture of valleys and combes, high heather moorland and ancient oak woodland. The northern boundary of Exmoor is the dramatic coastline of the Bristol Channel. The cliffs here are the highest in England and much of them is covered in ancient oak woodland. The tides in the Channel can be quite fierce but there are a number of safe, sandy beaches. There is a wide diversity of wildlife on Exmoor; The famous wild Exmoor Pony still thrives on the heathland commons as do the herds of wild Red Deer and there are large numbers of foxes which are regularly hunted on horseback using hounds. The loud ‘mewing’ of the buzzards as they circle overhead is also a feature of the Exmoor scenery. Another Exmoor feature is the Devon bank – field boundaries consisting of high, stone-sided, hedge topped man made banks. Exmoor is a very quiet and peaceful place, relatively unchanged for many years. Lots of its visitors return year after year, drawn by the beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife and the relaxing ambience of the place.

The Grand Benefits Of Online Hotel Booking Sites
The perfect thing about online booking for hotels is the greater convenience that you get. Sitting at home on your computer, you can make the total booking with a few clicks of the mouse. You also get to select from a great catalog of hotels and finally choose what you actually want. This truly beats having to go to your vacation destination on a limb and then to scour the place for a hotel you like and also within your budget. With online booking, you can get everything completing from your home itself, even before you begin your holiday.
But you must be careful when you are booking your hotel online. You must always go through a popular website, or there remains the danger of getting swindled. For starters, these popular hotel booking websites have booked hotels for millions of customers in their careers, and that does give them the professional edge. They know how to conduct bookings so that mistakes do not happen and you land up exactly where you want to go, and sometimes even in the room you have decided in advance.
The prices mentioned on them are the perfect price you want to pay. Some websites do put fascinating prices, but sans some taxes, and when you actually add the taxes, the total sum becomes a gigantic figure. But with online booking hotel, the price mentioned is inclusive of all applicable taxes. So, you know in advance how much you are going to end up paying.
You will also know exactly what you are getting. Popular hotel booking websites will show you all the available alternatives for your hotel requirements, and even show you some pictures of the hotel you would be staying in. There will be a description of the hotel also, telling what all additional things you will be getting at the hotel.
Booking with online booking hotel sites also provides you with the security that your hotel room is certainly booked and waiting for you when you arrive at your destination. You have the proof in your hands. No sooner is your transaction completed than you will get an email confirming your reservation, and even a voucher that you will have to show at the hotel when you check in.
There are many benefits of online hotel booking sites apart from the convenience of the whole thing. That is the cause why the number of vacationers booking online today clearly outweighs all other kinds of reservation modes.
From the Garage to the Stage ? the Rookie Bands Guide to Getting on the Live Music Circuit
As an up and coming local band it can be very frustrating trying to get your first live gig, luckily there is help and advice out there.
After countless hours spent in your friend’s garage or in a rehearsal studio perfecting your songs and tweaking your style you are, at some point, going to want to unleash your sound on to the general public.
A good place to start organising your first gig is deciding how far you are willing to travel, sit down with your band mates and on a map decide on the areas that you could possibly travel to. Then contact every pub, club or venue in that area asking if you can play there.
The must have item for any band wanting to organise gigs is a demo. Don’t worry if your demo is a little rough around the edges, it doesn’t matter, the main point is that it conveys the sound of your band. There’s no point wasting hundreds of pounds on recording studio time producing a highly polished demo suitable for sending to prospective record labels when a simple 3 track recording will suffice. Try to make sure that the demo represents your sound well, if you have a varied sound reflect this in the song choices for the demo. The promoter or venue manager will use your demo to see if your band is suitable to play at the venue (heavy metal bands do not go down well on acoustic nights!) Along with your demo you should always include contact information, include email address, telephone numbers and your website if you have one. You can also write a small paragraph describing and promoting yourselves but remember to keep things concise, the more professional looking and sounding the better. Remember that promoters and venues get sent demos through everyday so be prepared to wait a while for a response. It’s always a good idea to chase the promoter or venue after a few days, just to make sure they listen to your demo, but do not hound them as this could put them off.
As well as contacting venues directly you can also contact promoters in your area. Promoters are always happy to receive demos from bands and they may have contacts with many different venues in the area. Also if you know anyone else in a band that gig in your area you could ask them if you could support them one night.
Another way of getting the opportunity to play live is to cut out the promoter and organise a gig night for yourself. Contact other bands in your area and ask if they would be willing to play (most of them will be more than happy), then contact possible venues. Any venue will be suitable if it holds enough people and has an area to set up the band. The venue doesn’t even need to have its own sound equipment or engineer as there are companies that specialise in hiring out PA equipment and sound engineers. A quick search on the web provides a list of companies that can deliver across the country, set up full size PA systems and engineer an event. Companies such as audiorent.co.uk specialise in hiring out PA systems to bands and even offer advice on the best type of PA set up for the event your holding.
Once you have got a venue don’t worry about filling it, the main thing is to make sure you put on a good show. Many bands bring a lot of friends along to see them play, which is good, but sometimes they can get caught up in talking and joking with their friends rather than playing at their best. This can alienate possible new fans in the crowd, annoy promoters and lead to you not getting booked again at that venue.
Once you’ve got your first gig booked in the main thing to be aware of is the sound equipment at the venue. Make sure you know what they have and haven’t got, if you have any special needs with regards to sound make sure you inform the sound engineer as early as possible. Its no good informing the engineer that you need 5 DI boxes and microphones for a 4 piece brass section 30 minutes before you are about to go on. Most venues will have the equipment you need but always check before hand.
With regards to payment it is always worth asking but do not demand payment or be to pushy, this is your first gig and you don’t want it to be your last. Remember to always be nice to staff and promoters, it may be fine to have a rock and roll attitude on stage but if you start to annoy or alienate promoters and venues you will start to find it harder to organise gigs in your area.
The final point is to have fun, the more you play live the more your name will get known and the easier it will be to organise gigs in the future.

Britons Defy The Recession To Enjoy Their Holidays
The recession has hit the travel industry hard. This has been seen with the large amount of job losses in the sector, and even with the collapse of several airlines. The pattern has been repeated across Europe and there have been fears among industry analysts that the economic downturn will put people off their holidays altogether.
Fortunately it appears that, despite the straitened circumstances, UK citizens are not prepared to forgo their holidays. A significant amount of research and industry feedback has indicated that British travellers are altering their holiday habits, rather than cancel the holidays themselves.
At the close of 2009, leading travel companies Thomson and First Choice revealed that online polling had found that a massive 80 per cent of people were committed to their holidays and were planning to book their break – or breaks – as normal during 2010. The same number of respondents said that they were refusing to let the economic downturn alter their holiday plans.
The encouraging results were part of the 2009 Thomson and First Choice annual trends report, which also revealed that nearly half of all respondents would not be cutting the budgets for their holidays and 24 per cent said that they planned to spend more. Nevertheless, the recession was not without impact, as the survey revealed that many people are changing the way that they view their holidays.
Thomson and First Choice found that 6 per cent of respondents who had changed their holiday plans last year had booked a package holiday to ensure that they were covered by ATOL’s provisions in the event of their company going bust. At least they would get flown home, went the logic. This concern has remained, with 13 per cent admitting to making the same arrangement for their holidays this year.
Another way that UK holiday habits have changed in the face of the recession – alongside the growth of internet technology – is that the way in which many people book their holidays has changed. There has been a substantial increase in the number of holidays which are booked on the Internet using price comparison websites and the sites of smaller, independent holiday companies.
Holidaymakers don’t only do this to save money. The growth of tailor-made holidays booked at home is also in part due to the increased confidence that consumers feel about taking matters into their own hands and getting onto the Internet.
Cheap Discount Budget Hotels in London is a Pleasant Reality
Sometimes, it has been heard that London is now only for cockney humor and cockney speech. Well! It may be true but every year millions of people are coming to London and when they mix with the London people then the concept of cockney humor and cockney speech seems absurd.
Basically large scale immigration can be seen here during post World War II. This immigration was mainly from commonwealth countries. Commonwealth countries are fifty three sovereign states which were formerly part of British colonies. Three largest commonwealth nations are Canada, Australia and India. Due to failure of democracy; memberships of some countries have been suspended like Pakistan, Fiji, Zimbabwe and many more. Nowadays, perhaps such large scale immigration may not be seen here in London but every year millions of tourists may create the illusion. Some conservative groups may feel threaten and take this situation as an attack upon the root culture and life style of London but it is not true and British government is also aware of the situation.
Tourism industry contributes approximately ten percent revenue of London’s gross added. Thirteen percent of total work force in London is solely employed by London tourism. Hence, one can say that London tourism is significantly contributing in the economy of London. But on the contrary, expensive hotels are proving as the big threat for London tourism. Cheap discount budget hotels in London is very tough to access. As 2012 Olympic is about to come, it may distinctly leap the hotel prices. The good thing is that British government is paying special attention towards this issue. The government wants to make it possible for all income groups to come to London and experience the ultimate greatness and graceness of the city which seems incredible if you are aware about the calamities due to plague and fire in 1615.
Although, there are various so called cheap discount budget hotels in London but the stake about quality is always involved there. A wise visitor must check travel certificate of the cheap discount budget hotels. Some time hotels misguide visitors by showing self made star tags. There are certain fixed criteria about star marked hotels which are available on the websites. One must check these criteria before starting the tour. Various luxurious hotels also used to offer discount rate especially on the auspicious occasions like Christmas and New Year. If you are a honeymoon couple or senior citizens then again you may get exclusive amount of discount percent. Some prestigious hotels may offer discount rate for certain special family members like below 14 years age group.
Central London has always remained as the prime destination for the visitor due to its proximity with the iconic landmarks like Buckingham palace, parliament house, Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, etc. Hence, it is very tough to get cheap discount budget hotels in that area but Victoria and Bayswater districts are in its vicinity and one may get here cheap discounted budget accommodation in this area.
London’s 5 Airports : A Short Guide
London attracts so many visitors from around the world that it needs to have five airports to accommodate them all. What follows is a brief overview of each of those airports and details of how you can travel between them and Central London.
Heathrow Airport – Heathrow is London’s largest airport and is the world’s busiest for international passengers. It has five terminals and acts as a regional base to more than 90 airlines, which fly to over 150 destinations worldwide. It is located 22km west of Central London. The cheapest way to get to Central London from Heathrow is by using the London Underground. The journey takes less than an hour – though it will depend on your final destination – and costs around $6.
Gatwick Airport – Gatwick, located 45km south of the city center, is London’s second-largest airport. It is the main hub for discount and charter airlines. The journey from Gatwick Airport to central London, takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. To avoid potential traffic problems, you might want to consider a train instead, which will take you directly from the airport to Victoria Station.
Stansted Airport – Stansted is the definition of a budget airline hub but, despite the limited number of airlines, it is still London’s third busiest airport. It is located 48km northeast of the city center and there are convenient and reliable bus and train connections between the two. Stansted Bus and easyBus all would be your best options – they both send vehicles between the airport and Victoria Station, with the option to jump off at Marble Arch or Baker Street if you prefer.
Luton Airport – This small airport operates a single runway for the use of budget airlines traveling to and from European destinations. Located in the county of Bedfordshire 55km north of London, Luton Airport takes a while to get to and there may be more than one bus journey needed depending on your starting point. There are several round the clock bus services to and from London though, mostly run by Green Line and easyBus.
London City Airport – This is London’s smallest airport. The main users of it are business travelers as it is located so close to London’s financial district Canary Wharf. It is actually just 11km southeast of the city center. London City Airport only is compromised of just one runway and can not accommodate all types of planes (only those able to do short take-offs and landings). Getting to Central London is easy and convenient thanks to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR).
Alternatives to the 5 London Airports include the centrally located Birmingham Airport and Manchester Airport to the north. Both of these large international airports have very good transport links to London and the rest of the UK, meaning you can be anywhere within the country with just a few hours traveling.
Residential park home or holiday home: What’s the difference, and which is right for me?
The key differences
The two main differences between what is classified as a holiday home and a residential park home are the regulations relating to build standards on the property, and the maximum length of time in which you can inhabit the dwelling annually.
It may sound simple but one key thing is that residential park homes and residential lodges are built to ‘residential standards’ – meaning they are generally better insulated, more durable and built to last much longer than static caravan holiday homes.
Park home estates also nearly always come with a 12 month license, meaning owners can live there all year round and are free to sell any other properties they may own, which crucially frees up money locked in to a traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ home.
Static caravans, chalets and lodges which are sold as ‘holiday homes’ are still built to very high UK standards, but are not generally designed for year-round use and will not last for as many years as a park home unit built to ‘residential’ standards.
As you may have already guessed, lodges can sometimes blur the line between what is considered a park home and a holiday home as they can be built to either ‘residential’ or ‘holiday home’ standards and regulations. This obviously makes it even more important to check the building type and park license if you decide to purchase a lodge.
Another thing to remember is that park home specific insurance differs slightly to a standard house-hold policy and takes into account the different risks and requirements. Specialist insurance is also available for static caravan holiday homes, so be sure to do a little research and get advice from a specialist insurance broker – whichever you decide to go for.
Which is right for you?
If you are looking for a way to free up the capital locked into your home, or are retired and want more money to live comfortably and enjoy yourself, then a park home is a fantastic way to do this. Park homes also offers bungalow style living at a fraction of the cost, and on what are generally very safe and close-knit communities.
However, one key distinction between a park home and a normal bricks and mortar home is that on most park home estates you are purchasing the building itself outright, but the land it stands on and the concrete base as a long term lease. You do not own the land itself and will have to pay ground rent to the park owner whilst living on the park.
If on the other hand you’re looking for a ‘home away from home’, or simply somewhere to spend your holidays, then a holiday home might be the right choice for you.
With hundreds of holiday parks up and down the country offering everything from lively family based fun to quiet idyllic countryside retreats, and prices to suit most pockets, UK holiday homes are a fantastic way to enjoy your spare time. Whether it’s a quick weekend away or long summer holiday, you know that there are no flights, tickets, hotels or transfers to worry about – and the only thing you need to do when you arrive is put the kettle on and relax.
