Tips on best cheap holidays in the UK

Finding the best cheap holidays is not as easy as it used to be, but there are places on the web that help you in your search for not only the cheap package holidays, but cheap hotels and cheap flights – you just need to know how to search for them! If you use a site like www.travelaide.co.uk, you can save so much time searching that you will wonder why you have never used it before! The beauty about sites like Travel Aide is that not only can it save you time like I just mentioned, but it can save you so much money on so many different aspects of your holiday. The services you can find through a site that does all the work for you include finding cheap flights, hotels, holidays, car hire, travel insurance and much more! If you think about it, all these websites are doing is saving you time, energy and most importantly money. How would you usually go about searching for a cheap holiday, Google? Your local high-street travel agent? Asking friends what deals they got? However you would do it, I can guarantee it won’t be as effective as searching on a site like Travel Aide or Google and being offered a comparison and list of the best places to go, and the best prices available. I have checked through several other sites similar to the one I mentioned, and you still have to be careful not to stumble upon a pure marketing site that takes money directly from the hotels etc. just to promote them, as this will not save you money nor will it get you the best possible holiday for your money. The usual idea that comes to your head when you think of the word ‘cheap’ before flight, holiday or anything else related to travel is probably ‘bad quality’, right? I don’t blame you. However, the goal of these sites is not to offer you the worst possible places at the best prices, it’s to offer you good accommodation in the best areas for the cheapest possible prices –they want you to use the site again, so of course they won’t be recommending poor quality hotels that they themselves wouldn’t think about staying in! We all know how hard it is to find the best and cheapest car hire companies in the location we are going, don’t we? You usually end up having to accept the first one offered or the first one you see! Through using a site like this you can sift through them and find the cheapest and best solution for your particular needs. For more details please contact at: http://www.travelaide.co.uk/

The pantheon of the UK’s best venues

The pantheon of the UK’s best venues is as diverse as the organisations and businesses within its borders. The stereotypical hotel ballroom housing a conference of insurance adjusters does not fit the bill in defining what the best venues offer to UK groups. The definition of the best venue depends on the eye of the beholder, changing based on the number of invitees and the activities in question. An event organiser must think about his target audience as well as presenters and special guests when searching for the best venues.

One category of venues available to organisers involves simple design, high-tech facilities and basic furnishings. Modern hotels, conference centres and theatres are the best venues for professional groups more focused on their agendas than their surroundings. Teachers, attorneys, accountants and other professionals look for function rather than form when attending conferences. Breakout sessions, keynote speeches and group meetings are facilitated by Wi-Fi connections and computer workstations. This preference should help event organisers find simple but functional venues for their events.

Comic conventions, book fairs and speeches by popular entertainers need to be housed in venues with proper light and sound systems. An entertainer looking for a grand entrance to the stage may need a video intro, coordinated lighting and a booming theme song from the speakers. Comic conventions showing clips from upcoming action and sci-fi movies need to have miniature screening rooms to allow audiences to see multiple clips. A publishing event with prominent writers may need to shuffle seats and tables quickly to faciliate speeches, group discussions and breakout sessions. Since these events may not require as much space as other conventions, event organisers may be able to sacrifice convention rooms in favor of light and sound systems.

Trade group events and home shows require facilities that can handle product unloading, individual booths and exterior rooms that can handle overflow attendees. Furniture designers, home builders and construction companies must be able to unload samples and models easily from the street level to conference rooms. Medical supply events, home shows and other conferences where buyers and vendors are interacting are ineffective without individual booths for each vendor. The best venues are able to erect cubicle walls to match the number of registered vendors at an event, maximizing the value of the event for attendees. In addition to a large conference floor for easy movement, the best venues for these groups have sizable lobbies and adjacent overflow rooms to allow newcomers to wait until space is available in the vendor area.

While it is easy to break different groups based on their best venues, the ideal venue for any group has a few basic characteristics. The best venues in the UK are staffed with porters, desk clerks and event planners that are committed to their employer’s vision of quality service. Instead of a group of individuals trying to complete their tasks, great venue operators assign their workers to teams to handle the needs of each client. Event organisers should also have contact with the venue’s point person for conference clients. The point person is tasked with coordinating employees and resources to meet the needs of the venue’s clients.

The best venues available to UK organisations and businesses add value to the organisations to their full calendar of events. Historic hotels and modern conference centres have their names attached to events everyday, lending some credence to sponsoring organisations and participating presenters. An emerging software company sponsoring a scholarly conference with IT professor and industry experts can boost its reputation by choosing a high-end venue. Since most organisations rely on their annual conferences and meetings to make a public presence, the choice of the best venue possible is critical to keeping a spotlight on important issues.

Stadiums, racecourses and hotels that host conferences in the UK offer premium services to their customers. The best example of premium services offered by the best venues in the UK comes from the catering and room service menus. High-end venues extend their catering menus beyond snack foods and appetizers to multicourse meals, spirits and desserts made onsite. Room service menus may pleasantly surprise attendees who are staying in conference centres and hotels over the duration of the events. A menu covering breakfast to dinner including omelettes, sandwiches and steaks can improve the reputation of the sponsoring organisation.

Whether it is a home show or a conference of legal professionals, the best venues offer connectivity to the outside world. The days of a hotel room offering a TV with basic cable and a simple phone are long gone. Contractors, attorneys, teacher and other professionals must have access to the Internet to stay in touch with family and colleagues. The best venues are wired for Wi-Fi connectivity and allow for teleconferencing and international calling facilitating meetings with absent colleagues.

Birmingham Uk, Best Places To Visit And The Best Quality Hotels And Birmingham Hotels To Stay At

A UK break is guaranteed to be something that can be enjoyed by all ages and tastes. Whether you are looking for culture from the numerous museums dotted this quaint island or, the beautiful country sights to see. The UK is a country that you can’t help but enjoy.

The UK is one of Europe’s main city break holiday locations thanks to a special mix of different attractions and heritage it has to offer. There is so much going for it, it’s hard to know where to start.

First is the ease of getting there, depending on where you are coming from of course. There are more than 28 airports in the UK, and one of them is bound to be close to where you want to go. Depending on what you want to do and where you want to go your travel arrangements should not be a problem. There are excellent train and bus services to be found, and of course the subway and classic “black cabs” when you’re in London.

The UK is a great place to wonder around and explore, just because there is so much of it to look at. If you want good shopping and an exciting nightlife then aim for one of the big cities, like Birmingham or Newcastle. Birmingham is a fantastic city, not only because it has so much industrial background that is documented across the cities museums but because it has recently gone through a regeneration process with a lot of the city centre being brought up to the modern day. The “Bullring” is the busiest shopping centre in the UK, with 36.5 million visitors in 2004 and there is guaranteed to be something there to suit your tastes.

Another shopping centre close by is the Mailbox which I guess is classed as more of a “multi-use building” as it is home to offices, designer shops, restaurants, bars and luxury city-centre apartments as well as three art galleries. BBC Birmingham is also housed in the Mailbox where the general public are able to watch radio and television broadcasts in production at the all-access public foyer. If Birmingham does sound like the place for you then you’re in luck. There are a large number of Birmingham hotels to choose from, all with different locations and their own individual qualities, just look for Birmingham hotel descriptions or take a look at Comfort Inn Hotels. As I mentioned before, the nightlife there is second to none. There are some of the best places to eat in the whole of the UK, with foods from all over the world. If you’re looking for entertainment then look no more as Birmingham is home to the Electric Cinema (it claims to be the oldest cinema in the UK), the Symphony Hall, The REP and of course the NIA (The National Indoor Arena). If you’re looking for a more lively night out then your first stop should be the famous Broad Street as it is full of clubs and lively wine bars.

Birmingham has all the entertainment you could need in one place. If you’re feeling a flush then visit the jewellery quarter and find something that really floats your feather. A new ring? A watch? Whatever it is you’ll be able to find it there. The jewellery quarter is associated with the production of jewellery as well as coins/medals in Birmingham. It is also recognized as the birthplace of several pioneering breakthroughs in industrial technology. The Jewellery Quarter’s significance within the international jewellery business has dropped through much of the 20th century and it is now currently being changed into a urban village and also a domain for innovative businesses, while attempting trying to preserve its urban roots.

I’m not quite sure on what the other three quarters of Birmingham are, but I know they’re all great. I know that like every big city worth visiting, Birmingham has its own China Town. As you’d assume this is where the very best Chinese restaurants are. The Birmingham China Town has a booming nightlife, and an abundance of bars, clubs and theatres.

Where ever you decide to visit in the UK, please make sure that you have a good time on your trip and enjoy yourself. Make the most of your time in the UK and fit in as many attractions as you can, whilst remembering to relax and take it easy. After all, it wouldn’t be classed as a break if you were doing more work on your holiday than back at home!

Best value holiday destinations to beat the credit crunch

Those looking to find a great value holiday with a bit of adventure this year should definitely consider Iceland, as their money will now stretch more than 40% further than last summer. This is due to the collapse to the Icelandic krona, pushing this holiday spot to the top of the annual Post Office Travel Services’ Best Value Holiday Destinations report.

Another surprising runner up is Poland, with the pound now worth almost 19% more than last year, which makes this destination a great holiday option this year.

Hungary also joins Iceland and Poland as the only destinations in Europe offering British tourists more holiday currency for sterling this year.  But the pound has dropped in value by less than 3% in many other destinations as well.

For example, the Czech Republic and Turkey offer a good selection of bargains – rated by the Post Office’s Holiday Costs Barometer survey of tourist staples as one of the best buys available this year.

Turkey is fast becoming this year’s top UK holiday choice – with a 60% year-on-year increase in Post Office currency sales based on data taken from the last 5 weeks.

Holidaymakers that wish to travel further afield may want to consider Jamaica and Kenya, currently rating as top contenders for tourists as sterling is currently matching the value against these currencies from 2008. Impressive discounts on holiday packages could be the reason behind sales of Kenyan shillings which were up 97% in May and both destinations fall in Top 10 Fastest Growing Currencies at the Post Office.

However, a number of counties that were in the top ten countries from last year’s Best Value Destinations are now sitting at the bottom of the table.  For example, the USA has fallen from fourth to 17th place as a result of the dollar now worth over 20% more than this time last year. This is the same scenario among many other ‘dollar destinations’ such as Dubai, Hong Kong and the East Caribbean are ranked lower too as these countries currencies are affected by the state of the dollar.

Despite this, data gathered from currency sales indicate that some of these destinations are still in demand – with the East Caribbean dollar for destinations which include St. Lucia and Antigua are currently second only to Kenya in the latest Post Office Fastest Growing Currencies table.

Sarah Munro, Post Office head of travel services said: “Our spending power may not be what it was last year but when you look back to 2002 – when trips to the USA were as popular as they have been recently – it is clear that a similar rate, around US$1.43 to £1m, did not deter UK holidaymakers from crossing the pond.”

“Holidaymakers looking for best value should choose destinations where they can get more for their pounds.  These include Iceland, which has been expensive to visit in the past, as well as Turkey and Kenya, rated as best buys in our cost of living surveys.  But they should not waste these savings by buying currency at the airport, where they will pay commission and get a poor rate.”

How to Find the Best Travel Competition Sites

Competition sites are growing at an amazing rate, until recently I didn’t realise such a thing existed; but a whole world of web sites are out there hosting the details of many thousand on-line competitions. If you don’t know about them yet here’s a really good guide to the best sites and how to become a winner online in a few easy steps.

Competition sites act as a directory or link hosting space if you will of current online competitions. They compile as many differing competitions as they can find and give you the details of what you might win and from whom.

If you are like me and often think “why do I never win anything?” I have to tell my self well I didn’t bother to enter in fact I never bother to enter. This is where people like you and me have been going wrong for such a long time. There’s no secret to it, the winners out there aren’t being given luxury cars, holidays, buckets of cold hard cash or the latest ‘must have’ gadgets for being immensely clever. Oh no let me inform you that often the competitions online don’t even have questions to answer. They have become winners by taking the time and bothering to enter them selves into the draw.

There’s nothing stopping us from becoming winners too! Here are some of the best sites to check out and a few of the features they offer.

UK Competitions is a vast site who lists the competitions they advertise under various categories this is a convenient way of seeing some of the latest categories but also applying for competitions which would appeal to you. UK competitions brings thousands of online competitions into one location. If you’re serious about entering loads of competitions to increase your chances this is the site for you

Alternatively check out MY Offers they list competitions galore but also quizzes which take a bit more skill to enter. Remember though the harder or more complex the entry is the more likely you are to win. This is because the vast majority of people will be put of by a lengthier application process. This could be the key to your competition success if less people are in the draw, you will have a much better chance of being one of the winners.

The Prize Finder is a similar site with tons of content the add hundreds of new competitions on a daily basis if you want to win some serious prizes you should have a look at the Prize Finder. Prize finder also run a lot of their own competitions and but be wary because you could end up spending your own cash to play them.

Competitors Companion are a good site which clearly distinguish between having to pay to enter and the free competitions. They also gather together some of the biggest prizes offered and keep them together in one place. The site has it’s own blog where members keep in touch and tell each other of any wins they have had. Winners at this web site help each other out with hints and tips of playing multiple competitions.

Have a look for yourself it doesn’t take long to have a look through your search engine and decide on the best competition sites to use. Have a go… and Good luck!

Best day trips to UK

Transportation links from London to the suburbs, the countryside and even other nearby cities are easy, fast and reasonably priced which are best day trips UK. If you are looking for an alternative to London’s hustle and bustle and a chance to see England from a different perspective, these quick “away days” may be just the ticket. They’re all reachable in about an hour by public transportation too.

Visiting London is often the start or end of a vacation in England. Some travellers to the UK may spend their entire vacation in London. What a great idea for a guidebook, then, to pick out the 25 best day trips to be had from London, almost all of which can be done by bus, train or by car. The only real exception is the furthest day trip, to York, which the authors admit is probably that bit too far from London to take the bus (5 hours each way). It would be a long drive too, at almost four hours, but it can be done easily by train at only 2 hours each way.

One of the best features of this guide is the very useful practical information it provides on getting to and from the featured best day trips. It includes not only journey times for train and bus but frequency of service and the cost, along with a contact number to confirm up-to-date information (the book was published in 2008). For going to Stratford-upon-Avon by train, the authors point out that it can be cheaper to buy two single tickets than a return ticket on this particular route.

The Best Day Trips UK does include all the places visitors are most likely to want to see, that are easily combined with a London vacation. York might have been excluded as being that bit too far for an easy day trip, and somewhere like Chichester, Ely or Gloucester included instead, but it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that anyone planning a London holiday should buy this as well as a good London guidebook. England is a small country and there’s so much to see on these easy day trips from London.

To Compare Travel Agents & Bag The Best Bargain ? Give 5 Minutes!

There are few ways to determine whether you have selected the travel agent to guide you the pleasurable and money saving road map for your travel schedule. You need to compare travel agents and airlines or travel web sites which offer myriad travel plans, air line tickets for different classes, herald discounts and best time to travel in order to ensure pocket friendly bargains. Start to compare travel plans in following methods – 1. Start with checking out air lines. If you are not taking off from small airports, you will get multiple options in choice of fleets – you can at least target to browse at least five air carriers. Visit websites of renowned air carriers having economical and comfortable air lines. These sites address visitors’ enquiries with travel quotes available on your planned travel dates. All you have to do is compare.

2. Travel agencies operating through internet are good places to jump to start to compare travel plans available at your intended season of travelling. These third party travel agents act as one stop solutions to get travel quotes from a plethora of airlines. Therefore, you can save time to be spent in hopping from one site to another site of air lines to get quotes inclusive of taxes, fees or other costs.

3. While browsing air line portals or online third party travel agencies – be open to free email or newsletter alerts from those sites. By signing up for those emails and newsletters, you are actually allowing them to send you their offers available on flying to particular states or cities (the city or state might be which are thinking off to fly to), considerable discounts on several air lines or airports, profitable last minute travel plans and deals etc. to compare travel money plans amongst the varieties and pick up the best ones suiting your requisitions and securing comfort for your travel companions.

At last but not least, should you be a bit flexible to adjust your travel dates according to available travel deals, you can take up more opportunities to save in travel fares. For example, instead of Friday or Monday, schedule your travel date on Wednesday to curtail huge amount from travel fare.

Which are the Best Hotels in Havana?

I get this question all the time and I always try to get as much information as possible from my clients in order to recommend the best hotels for them. As I am not going to be able to do this now I will be as fair as I can be and I will leave down to you which hotel to go for.

In this article I am going to focus on the hotels located in the Old Town area or Havana Vieja which is the way everybody in Havana knows it. One thing that makes the hotels in this part of Havana different from the rest is the fact that very few of them were originally built to be hotels. Each of them has a very unique architecture style and some of them date back 200 years ago.

I have to start with Santa Isabel Hotel, located in the very heart of Habana Vieja right next to the place where the city was founded. Originally built for the governor of Cuba more than 200 years ago; this building is one of the most representative examples of the Spanish-Moorish colonial architecture. It only counts 27 rooms, most of them with fantastic views. This four stars plus hotel really transport you back in time. Santa Isabel hotel needs to be booked well in advance. In spite of being an expensive one; the fact that it has few rooms makes it a difficult one to get, especially in high season.

My next favorite hotel has to be Saratoga Palace. The Hotel Saratoga is a very elegant, eclectic styled building. It is located right in front of the Capitol building in one of the most popular promenades of Havana, Paseo del Prado. It is probably one of the few hotels in Havana that deserve a 5 star category. From the roof top swimming pool you can admire the splendor of the Old Town while relaxing on a sun bed. This hotel has 96 rooms divided in suites, junior suites and deluxe patio rooms. I definitely recommend the junior suites as these ones do have balconies overlooking the streets of Havana.

NH Parque Central is another 5 star hotel in the old town that I like to recommend particularly for its high standard of service and excellent food. This hotel is also located in Paseo del Prado Promenade and it was erected over the ruins of a collapsed building about 10 years ago. Its façade is not an architectural jewel but its beautiful lobby has been decorated following the colonial style guidelines. It also has a roof top swimming pool with fantastic views of the old town.

There are lots of very good hotels in the Old Town that I also like to recommend like Florida, Condes de Villa Nueva and Raquel Hotel and little but very cozy hostels like Valencia, Comendador and Beltran de Santa Cruz.

I am going to leave now hoping to help you make up your mind and decide which hotel is better for you. You can find detailed information at www.quest2cuba.co.uk.

How To Get The Best Discounts While Traveling The World

We have spent the past couple months planning for our around the word trip. In said preparation we found out a couple memberships and passes which will make our lives easier as well as save some money. I’d like to share those with you.

EU Rail Passes

This pass will give you access to almost every single train in western Europe, this excludes UK. If you are less than 25 years old you qualify for a 2nd class pass which is about 25% less expensive then the first class pass. You can pick and choose the best pass for your travel needs. We chose to go with a 3 month-unlimited pass. Spain is one of the only countries that requires a small supplement fee when booking a train ride. Otherwise, you get to ride fast and slow trains as much you you like.

Camping International Card

The Camping International Card has mainly two interesting benefits: You get access to exclusive campsites and receive up to 15% discount. The second benefit and perhaps more interesting one is the ability to use it as an identification card at campgrounds. Normally they would ask you to leave you passport at the office when you are camping. I don’t know about you, but I am not comfortable leaving my passport anywhere. The Camping International Carnet serves as you I.D. in place of your passport. If you are a AAA member you can request a carnet for about $30. If you are not a AAA member FCRV can provide you with a one year membership for about $60 (the only place I found where you can get this card in the US, thanks Heather). Note you will receive one card per family, not one per person.

Hostelling International Card

The Hostelling International membership card is all you need to access the world’s largest network of budget travel accommodations as well as many member exclusive discounts and special offers. This means you get access to exclusive hostels and special offers on the road. You don’t have to get this membership ahead of time, but I recommend you do, it makes things easier when you arrive at the hostel. Discounts normally ranger from 5-15%. Some hostels required you to have the card, but they allow you purchase it when you arrive.

Royal Oak Foundation Card

The Royal Oak Foundation engages Americans in the work of the National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, one of the world’s largest and most progressive conservation organizations. With the membership you get to enjoy free entry to over 350 historic locations, which includes some of Britain’s most amazing countryside; places like Stonehenge. The membership will cost you $80 for a family. With your membership you will receive a 200 page guide containing most of the included locations as well as parking pass, which grants you free parking at most of the locations—great value and highly recommended.

For long term world travelers, I would recommend picking up the memberships above. They will not only save you money and time but also include guides, and discount booklets that will help you familiarize yourself with long-term international travel.
